Why “fathers rising”?

For the past 10 years, since I became a father myself, I’ve been slowly, very naturally, and more and more consciously been exploring what my role as a father means. To myself, to my kids, to my partner, and to my role in society.

What does it mean to be a father?
What is the influence of fathering, in our family system, but also in the larger context of our culture and societies, and how does it impact future generations?

There’s a couple of books out there about becoming a dad, and most of them are sort of jokingly talking about the subject, giving practical tips and advice on how to perform this job in a sort of accessible, lighthearted way. In my opinion, this kind of writing sort of adds to the problem. It’s a nice way of making some money, but it doesn’t communicate the huge impact fathers have on our society.
